Jay

As a native New Yorker and the cofounder of White Ladder Productions, LLC. Jay Scala works as an oral historian, documentary filmmaker, and writer. He attended Columbia University for his undergraduate degree and holds two master’s degrees: the first from New York University in humanities and social thought and the second from Columbia University in oral history. Jay has worked with many individuals and organizations including the American Mime Theatre, Amnesty International, Cities4All, Columbia University, CantaNYC, and The Dorothy M. Gillespie Foundation. An artist at heart, he combines his filming expertise with post-production craftsmanship to create beautifully-rendered oral histories, interviews, and full-length documentaries with original music. As a talented filmmaker and content creator, Jay specializes in capturing compelling stories through the lens of an artist. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for visual storytelling, he brings cinematic flair to every project. Jay’s work reflects a dedication to authenticity and a commitment to captivating audiences.
